A Crime So Monstrous: A Brief Reading

I have been writing about Child Slavery here at StopChildSlavery.com for a long time now. You’d think I’d be way beyond surprise at this point. I’m not. Benjamin Skinner’s book, “A Crime So Monstrous,” is surprising on many levels. As I began reading in earnest last night, waves of emotion came flooding over me and I was struck, once again, by how pervasive the problem of child slavery has become. Click on the image below for a reading from pages 10 and 11 of the book.

  1. So glad to learn about your site and the great work you’re doing. I’ll definitely read A Crime So Monstrous.

I’ve often had the same reaction you did and one of my often-repeated lines is, “Just when I think I’ve heard the worst story….”

Our NGO is getting ready to launch a global campaign called The Born to Fly Project to educate kids, parents, and teachers about the dangers of trafficking (including slavery). Whenever kids get awareness training, the rate of trafficking plummets. There’s just not enough training, nor in the languages of most at-risk kids. That’s the hole we’re hoping to fill.
